Roy didn't choose anything which is one of the reasons I find the whole scene very disturbing. I suppose Truth could have just sent him back without showing him the truth, knowing he didn't willingly open the portal, but then it comes back to the fact that Truth/life isn't fair, not to mention it would be a bit akin to pushing someone off said moving train.Īnd re: handing the homunculi what they needed, I don't think Truth would get involved. And besides, we're almost at the next stop, so whether you wanted to or not you've gotten somewhere by train. You explain your situation and they say you have to buy one anyway, not because they're malicious but because its the rules, the rules that keep the whole system running and make it so people can get where they need to go. You don't have one, they say you have to buy one. The conductor comes by and asks for your ticket. ![]() It wasn't your fault, and you didn't want to get on it, but now you're on it. Let's say someone pushed you on a train as the doors were closing. Mustang saw the truth and was able to to alchemy without a circle because of it. And remember, Mustang did see the truth while he was there, and that's really what the toll is for. Whether you walk through the gate or are forced through it doesn't matter, you still have to pay the toll. It'd be easy to just call it a plot hole but I'd like to have more faith in a series that hasotherwise stellar writing. ![]() But yeah, this is the one thing I can't seem to understand. Especially considering the fate of the world was at stake, but yolo, right?Īs a lesser question, why didn't this happen with the Gold-Toothed Doctor who had performed human transmutation literally minutes before this happened? Also, Pride technically did the human transmutation instead of Mustang but I think I've overstayed my welcome for now. So how come he took Mustang's eyesight, completely knowing the circumstances (as a part of being omniscient) instead of just talking it out or sending him back unharmed without opening up the portal? Better yet, if it is truly the will of god that sends you to Truth, why did it even work in the first place? Kind of a dick move for God to hand the Homunculus it's last sacrifice on a silver platter on top of that too. We've seen in the climax of the series that Truth can be talked to, reasoned and negotiated with. So my question is, a man was forced to do human transmutation to send him there and this omniscient being just went along with it and took the poor man's eyesight. What I don't understand is WHY it happened.Īs in, why did Truth just screw an innocent man like that? Seeing ad he's referred to as God more than anything else, leads me to believe that he IS the god of the FMA universe.
